DEFINATION:

Azospermia is defined is defined as complete absence of sperm in the ejaculate.

NOTE:

 If your semen analysis report shows complete absence of sperm this does not mean that sperms are not produced there might be problem in delivery of sperms in the ejaculate.This must be ruled out that the pathway through which sperms have to travel and get ejaculated is clear.The first thing is to make clear that the delivery route of sprems is clear and if it is not clear then attempts should be made to clear it,and if route is clear and sperms are not deing produces by testes then we the need is to explore that wether the problem can be reversed or not.

CAUSES:

Causes of azospermia can be divided into two categories

1. Non-obstuctive causes
2. Obstructive causes

NON-OBSTRUCTIVE CAUSES:

• MEDICINES AND DRUGS:

Certain medicines such as steroids,antiinflammatory,antibiotics,medicines used for cure of cancer and illegal use of drugs can inhibit the production of sperms.

• SMOKING AND ALCOHOL:

Smoking and alcohol may cause problems with sperm production.

• GENETIC FACTOR:

Some of the males are born with genes that inhibit the production of sperms such as kleinfelter,s syndrome,Kallmann's syndrome (in this syndrome genes effect proper formation of sex organs)

• RADIATIONS:

Some of the Exposure to certain kinds of radiations such as that used for cure of cancer can inhibit the production of sperms.

• RETROGRADE EJACULATION:

Some of theRetrograde ejaculation is the term used when ejaculate passes into urinary bladder instead of going out of the body.

OBSTRUCTIVE CAUSES:

• There may be obstruction in either the lower or upper male reproductive tract.
• Sperm production may be normal but the obstruction is preventing the sperm to be ejaculated.
• Vasectomy
• Congenital absence of vas deferens
• Scarring from past infections
• Some genetic conditions such as cystic fibrosis.

SYMPTOMS:

• The very first symptom is the inability to get your partner pregnant
• Increased fats in the body and breast tissue
• Clear whitish discharge from the body
• Anxiety,stress of not being able to conceive the child
• Testicles are small soft ans non-palpable
• Varicocele may be present

TREATMENT:


FOR NON-OBSTRUCTIVE INFERTILITY:

• Herbal drugs such as Musali pak,Dhatupaushtik choorna are very effective.

FOR OBSTRUCTIVE INFERTILITY:

• Line of treatment depends on the cause and is decided after complete assesment.
